AUTOMATIC LOADING EQUIPMENT
|
McCain Universal Signature Loaders (Musls)
|

| |
McCain’s Universal Signature Feeder and Bundle Loader automatically separates and delivers signatures to a binder hopper in a thin, loose pile just right for easy, error-free feeding. Because it eliminates jogging, loading is faster, requiring less skill and effort. The McCain Musl reduces labor costs while it enables you to take complete advantage of your binder’s production capabilities.
Provide Greater Productivity
Loading is faster. Greater signature capacity makes it easier to keep up with faster machines.
Less Work and Loading Skill
Eliminates manual jogging or flexing of stock. Anyone can learn to load in minutes.
Easily Moved from Feeder to Feeder
Musls contain their own drive. Signature feeders continue to operate with normal infeed chains or belts so change over from hand loading to Musl loading is simple and quick.
A McCain Musl not only makes loading easier. It also makes Running Better. A signature feeder loaded by a Musl almost never stops because of a feeding error. The Musl delivers a continuous flow of a few inches of stock, perfectly jogged to the signature feeder infeed, where fast acting joggers position the signatures for trouble-free feeding. |
STRAIGHT-IN AUTOMATIC BUNDLE LOADERS
|

 |
 |
 |
| |
The straight in system is connected directly to the infeed of the signature feeder. This system is used only for the loading of pressure bundles or logs. Bundles are loaded on to the straight in system and the signatures are fed directly into the signature feeder. Bundle loader adapter kits are required for each individual signature feeder.
Automation is strongly recommended for lifting bundles from the pallet and placing them on the loader. It should be understood that bundles delivered to the straight in loader must be uniform and have all signatures well jogged.
|
Jogging Table Conversion Kit
These kits contain all necessary components required to change over from older style feeder fixed position jogging tables to the newer style hinged model. These kits allow users to replace their jogging tables to the newer style hinged tables which allow easier access to the feeders from the loaders side of the feeder. When used with a "Bundle Loader Adapter Kit", Bundle Loaders easily mount on feeders. Adapter kits are available in different versions, each containing the proper bracketry required for each feeder type.
|
Bundle Loader Adapter Kits
Purchased separately, these kits are available in different versions depending on the type of feeder. These kits include necessary sprockets, sensors and connecting brackets. Customers may wish to purchase "Bundle Loader Adapter Kits" for each of the feeders yet buy a lesser amount of "Bundle Loaders". Such a situation would allow for the easy "on/off" of bundle loader tables on any feeder.

WEB PRESS GAIN CONTROLS

NCI Gain Controls aid in controlling tension on web presses. Used to control the trim speed of a harmonic gear driven nipped roll (Infeed, Chill, Folder, Sheeter) the NCI Gain Control was designed to replace analog controls with a digital system that did not require calibration. With over 400 units currently in use around the world , the NCI Gain Control insures that if you call for .2% gain, it will be exactly that gain in a ramp-up, steady run or e-stop ramp down conditions, helping maintain the web from breaking due to over tensioning or web weave from under tensioning.

CUSTOM DESIGNED MACHINERY
|
| Since 1909… An American Tradition |
Since its turn of the 20th century roots as “Chicago Machinery Company” to the beginning of the 21st Century, McCain Bindery Systems has been dedicated to providing its customers the most durable, versatile and productive machinery possible.
Started as a design and engineering firm, clients commissioned McCain to find mechanical solutions for a variety of projects. In 1929, McCain completed its first project for the book binding industry: a sewing machine for thick texts and encyclopedias. This book “side sewing” machine was the predecessor for today’s McCain model SMC sewing machine, which is considered the industry standard. So well received were these machines that by the 1950s, McCain engineered and manufactured exclusively for the graphic arts industry.
McCain specializes in the saddle stitch, book sewing, inserting and book production markets. For over 50 years, principle research and development have been devoted to both standard and special bindery projects. In cooperation with our sister company, Numerical Concepts Inc., McCain has expanded it product offerings to include Web Press Sheeters and Web Press Gain Controls.
Equipment developed at McCain is initiated through two channels: Our perceived market need for a machine with a given specification or speed and/or direct commission from customers to engineer special systems for them. Both channels include customer partnering. Input from print buyers, bindery and mailroom managers, operators and maintenance crews are all integral in the development of McCain equipment.
At McCain we consider it a privilege to be our customers chosen vendor. It is a privilege we work hard to earn everyday. We earn both our customers respect and repeat business by keeping their satisfaction at the forefront of everything we do. We’re confident we can provide excellent service meeting our customers’ design, manufacturing and service needs. This confidence is supported by:
Our experienced, proven management team.
Our skilled and responsible employees.
Our flexible multi-shift operation.
Our continuous investment in capital improvements, which have established the foundation for quality results.
Our job tracking capability and sincere concern for our customers.
This concept of service along with our wide range of skills, gives many of our customers the ease of “one stop shopping”. We truly partner with our customers. A partnership that goes far beyond the normal “Buyer and Seller”. We design, manufacture and support the equipment we offer. This includes complete assembly, inspection and testing specifications. |

MACHINE INTEGRATION & PLANT RETOOLING
|
As we begin the twenty-first century, printing, binding and the distribution of the finished product is undergoing significant changes. While offset printing continues to grow; run lengths are getting shorter, digital and on-demand printing are gaining larger shares of the market. Printing is considered less of a craft and more as a manufacturing process. As a manufacturing process, efficiency becomes the linchpin to productivity and subsequently profitability. Printers are finding the keys to success lie not only in producing a quality product but producing it as quickly and efficiently as possible. As a manufacturing process, integration has become the key. Printing, binding and distribution can no longer be considered separate entities but integrated parts of the same process.
When it comes to tying it all together, no one does it better than McCain. Whether you are looking for improved efficiencies in existing systems or just a better way to get the job done, McCain design engineers can tailor a system for your operation that brings it all together; pressroom, bindery and distribution.
|
MACHINE & PLANT LAYOUT DOCUMENTATION
|
Whether retooling an existing plant, moving into a new facility or purchasing new equipment, nothing is more frustrating than the problems caused by poor floor design or the lack of proper documentation. We can help create a single source of information for floor plans and vital machine specifications, functions and requirements. Let McCain bring it all together.
